- Hello again Simon :)
- I don`t know whether you got the last 2 replys, but WinVN has just crashed
- twice in a row...
-
- I'm afraid I left-out quite a vital bit in my suggestion:
-
- In article <4gflaq$f3t@bignews.shef.ac.uk>, ELA95CSH@shef.ac.uk says...
- >6.When DiskSalv complains that the Disk is full, take not of the file it was
- >LAST recovering. IF DOING OPTION (b), Pause DiskSalv when all salvaged files
- >have taken up half the previously available space (incase compression does't
- >reach 60+% FOR lzx)..

- <snip!>
-
- 7.5.Right, now delete all the salvaged files (apart from the last one
- salvaged!), and any LZX/LhA files you just created & backed-up..
- Now continue DiskSalv by either unpausing or letting it try again (now
- disk is not full).
- Repeat the above procedure untill the salvaging/backup is complete...
-
- >8.CHECK THE INTEGRITY OF THE BACKUP!!!! It is very possible for someone not
- >used to backing up to have made a mistake someone.. An even some who is :)
-
- Also, some disks may be bad, etc...
-
-
- I'd be interested to hear what you eventually decide/manage to do with your
- nasty problem, which I think was quite likely to happen sometime given that
- Murphy's Law is very active on Computers & precious data! Especially to
- someone who doesn`t backup ;) .
-
- Now to pray that WinVN doesn`t crash again.....
